During the construction phase of the pipelines, there is always a possibility that particles left in the pipe could travel downstream and break loose. These damages affect the instrumentation and impede other plant
operations.
To fix this, the steam blowing method is implemented to remove the damaging particles from the piping before the plant operation. The boiler pressures used will deliver a dynamic pressure and is 20% or more
higher than the experience created by the normal operations.
Steam blow method: in this method, the boiler is fired to generate the steam used to clean the steam path. To perform this service, equipment such as specialized quick opening valves with a detailed
procedure, designs of temporary spools, debris containing equipment, steam quenching devices, and silencers are required. A heavy oxide layer is formed when the pipe is fabricated during the stem blowing process.
And this layer known as the mill scale must be removed from critical systems before the service starts.
