SWABBING

Swabbing is processed after the dewatering to remove the remaining water in the pipeline as it may bring hydrates formation that leads to possibility of internal corrosion. Dry air will be used to speed up the process as LD/MD foam pigs will be propelled with air for bringing dryness. To remove salt deposits and other contaminants, the pipelines must be swabbed with freshwater slugs between the pigs.
